Readers Response

This Must Be The Place was definitely my favorite piece to read. When opening the page I was dreading reading the 20 page story. However, I found my self connecting with this story more than I expected. The author used so many amazing descriptions and scenery details. I loved how this story was about a girl escaping from a small town and running away to follow her dreams. It made me feel like I was the character, maybe in a different dream world. I felt as if she described the main characters desire for film so well that it could almost be my own desires. I wanted so much more once this story was ending. I was left with so many question and frustrated that it was over. However, I wasn't angry because this short story was so perfect and simple. I really enjoyed her style of writing. I didn't however love Salvatore's writing. I didn't like the way he ranted. I did like the purpose of the story though. It seemed as the the woman's hatred for her own breasts stood for something deeper than just that. I think it has something to do with the stance of women in our society and the fact that sometimes it is very hard for men or even women to look past a women as a sexual being and look at her as something much more than that. Although I did not like this piece it left me coming up with a lot of ideas as to why he would write a story such as this.

Questions for Salvatore:
- What was your inspiration for this piece?
- Is there a deeper meaning behind this story or is this simply it?
- What causes you to want to write and where do you write?

Questions for Racculia:
- What inspired this piece of writing?
- Do have any sort of connection with this character?
- Do you have a specific time and way you write, or is it spontaneous?
